Flying private to Miami: airports, seasons and events
Miami has two county-run general aviation airports, OPF and TMB, that are designated relievers to MIA and have on-site U.S. Customs, so private flights from the Caribbean and Latin America can clear at the first stop. Fort Lauderdale Executive (FXE), just to the north, has its own CBP facility that serves many Caribbean-bound travelers.

In our order of preference for a private flight; routes on this page are priced from OPF. The airport changes the price, so ask about each. Each airport's page has its runways, customs and which jets fit. “Suits” is our rule of thumb from runway length and elevation: weight, temperature and the jet's own numbers decide it on the day.

No ferry or repositioning fees anywhere in the lower 48. The Caribbean, Mexico and Canada add repositioning at $4,000 an hour plus handling; Hawaii and Alaska are quoted per trip.
Round trips here fly out and back on different days, each day with its own minimum. Peak days and short-notice callout cost more.
Flying private to Miami: questions
How much is a private jet to Miami?
About $5,500 to $7,000 one way from Nassau on a light jet; $24,500 to $27,000 one way from New York on a midsize jet; $60,000 to $65,000 one way from Los Angeles on a super-midsize jet. Across all 210 cities we price into Miami, one-way estimates run from about $4,000 (Naples) to $132,000 (Anchorage). These are estimates from published jet card rates times the flight time, not quotes: minimums, peak days and airport fees change the final price.
How much is a 2-hour private jet flight to Miami?
About $15,000 to $19,000 in a light jet, $19,000 to $21,000 in a midsize jet, $24,000 to $26,000 in a super-midsize jet, $29,000 to $33,000 in a large jet: two hours times the published hourly rates, before minimums. About two hours from Miami: New Orleans, Nashville and Raleigh-Durham.
How much is a private jet from NYC to Miami?
About $24,500 to $27,000 one way on a midsize jet, 2 hours 35 minutes nonstop for 1,092 miles. A round trip on different days is about twice that. An estimate from published rates, not a quote.
How much is a private jet from Atlanta to Miami?
About $12,500 to $16,000 one way on a light jet, 1 hour 40 minutes nonstop for 601 miles. A round trip on different days is about twice that. An estimate from published rates, not a quote.
Where do private jets land in Miami?
We price Miami from OPF (Miami-Opa Locka Executive Airport), then MIA (Miami International Airport), TMB (Miami Executive Airport), FLL (Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport) and FXE (Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport), in our order of preference for a private flight. The airport changes the price and the drive, so ask about each when you book.
Which private jets can fly to Miami nonstop?
By our conservative range assumptions, a light jet (about 1,700 nautical miles) flies in nonstop from 165 of 210 cities, the farthest being Tucson; a midsize jet (about 2,000 nautical miles) flies in nonstop from 177 of 210 cities, the farthest being San Diego; a super-midsize jet (about 3,000 nautical miles) flies in nonstop from 203 of 210 cities, the farthest being Juneau; a large jet (about 4,000 nautical miles) flies in nonstop from 205 of 210 cities, the farthest being Anchorage. Beyond that, plan a fuel stop. Payload, winds and runway length decide it on the day.
What's the lowest-cost way to fly private to Miami?
Fly the smallest jet that makes the trip nonstop (a light jet covers 165 of these routes), avoid peak days, and compare one-way pricing with a round trip. A jet card fixes the hourly rate ahead of time; compare cards within one jet size. For a super-midsize jet, CRAFT's is $12,950 an hour on the 25-hour card, fuel and FET included, on a Challenger 350. Empty legs and shared flights exist, but they run on someone else's schedule. No estimate here is a guaranteed price.
Can I fly private to Miami from Mexico, Canada or the Caribbean?
Yes. 63 of the routes on this page cross a border, including Nassau (45m, nonstop in a light jet), Turks & Caicos (1h 35m, nonstop in a light jet) and Grand Cayman (1h 20m, nonstop in a light jet). An international flight clears customs at an airport of entry and everyone needs a passport. CRAFT's card rate covers the lower 48; Caribbean, Mexico and Canada trips add repositioning at $4,000 an hour plus handling.
Can I clear U.S. Customs at a Miami private jet airport?
Yes. OPF has Customs from 9 a.m. to midnight daily, TMB is a landing rights airport with Customs during the day on one hour's notice, and FXE has a CBP facility open 8 a.m. to midnight.
What is the difference between OPF and TMB?
Both are Miami-Dade County general aviation airports and relievers to MIA. OPF is north of the city; TMB is southwest of downtown, with access to the Turnpike, Ocean Reef and the Florida Keys.
Is it harder to fly private into Miami during the Grand Prix?
Yes. Race weekend in early May brings traffic management at MIA, OPF, FLL, FXE and TMB, including possible metering and ground delays. Arrange FBO parking ahead of time.
