More routes and every city: private jet cost by route.
Method
How we calculate
- Distance. Great-circle distance between the two cities' main private-jet airports.
- Flight time. Distance divided by a typical block speed for the jet size, plus 0.3 hours a leg for taxi, climb and descent; a fuel stop adds a leg. “Best fit” is the smallest jet that flies the route nonstop within a comfortable time.
- Price. Flight time times the published hourly rates for the size from 16 companies (the middle half of them; the full spread under four), with the 7.5% federal excise tax added where a company says it's extra. The same function renders our route pages, so the numbers match.
| Factor | Value | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Hourly rates | 16 companies | As published on each company's own site, checked October 2, 2026 |
| Block speed and practical range | By jet size | Our route-cost assumptions (editorial, set to err long) |
| Federal excise tax | 7.5% | Added only where a company says it isn't included |

The calculator gives a range. Tell us the route, the date and how many are flying, and CRAFT's desk sends one firm number on a Challenger 300 or 350.
- A Part 135 operator flying its own Challenger 300s and 350s
- One firm price for the trip, not a range
- Fleet Jet Card members fly at the card rate, fuel and FET included

Charter cost: questions
How much does it cost to charter a private jet?
Per hour, by published jet card rates: $7,500 to $9,500 for a light jet, $9,500 to $10,500 for a midsize jet, $12,000 to $13,000 for a super-midsize jet, $14,500 to $16,500 for a large jet. A trip is that times the flight time: New York to Miami is about 2h 35m and $24,500 to $27,000 one way in a midsize jet.
How does the calculator estimate a charter price?
It runs the same numbers as our route pages: the great-circle distance between the two cities' main private-jet airports, divided by a typical block speed for the jet size, plus 0.3 hours a leg for taxi, climb and descent, times the published hourly rates of 16 companies (the middle half of them, tax added where a company says it's extra).
What does the estimate leave out?
Minimums (published programs bill 48 to 120 minutes a leg; CRAFT's card bills at least 2 hours a day), peak-day surcharges, short-notice fees, airport, landing and handling fees, international taxes, and repositioning where a program charges it. A quote prices all of that for a specific aircraft and date.
Is a round trip twice the one-way price?
About, when you come back on a different day: each direction is billed for its flight time and each day carries its own minimums. Out and back the same day can cost less where a daily minimum covers both legs. One-way charters on aircraft that would otherwise fly home empty sometimes price lower, but only when the schedule lines up.
How does CRAFT's price compare?
CRAFT flies its own Challenger 300s and 350s. The Fleet Jet Card is $12,950 an hour on the 25-hour card, fuel and FET included, and the calculator shows what that comes to on a super-midsize route within the card's service area. For a single charter, ask for a quote: it is one firm number for the trip, not a range.
