The General Electric CF34-1A engine is part of the General Electric CF34 family.
The CF34 range of engines are a series of high-bypass turbofan engines. The engines can trace their routes back to the TF34 military engines from which they are developed.
The CF34’s first run was back in the 1982.
The CF34-1A engines first debuted on a private jet with the Bombardier Challenger 601-1A, a super-midsize/large aircraft with deliveries starting in 1983.
The Challenger 601-1A was in production from 1983 to 1987. The aircraft could cruise at 460 knots at a maximum altitude of 41,000 feet.
When optimized for long-range flying the Challenger could fly non-stop for up to 3,200 nautical miles. The hourly fuel burn of the Challenger 601-1A is 278 Gallons per Hour.
